Food Friday: Kilwins

For the Branson visitor with a major sweet tooth, Kilwins is paradise, boasting an incredible variety of caramel apples, sweet brittles, mouthwatering fudge, chewy salt water taffies and much much more.

The Kilwins Branson location settled into its new home at the Branson Landing back in May and has been a popular spot to pick up delicious treats ever since. I blogged about it back when it first opened but haven’t had a chance to stop in until this past week. And boy am I glad I did.

Kilwins Branson is located down on the popular Branson Landing in suite 813 just a few doors down from Hot Topic and It’s Sugar, the candy store. Wednesday afternoon turned out to be beautiful 70 degree perfection after a slightly cool morning, making it the perfect day to stop by the candy shop. Not even a full minute after I stepped over the sugary-scented threshold of the doorway, the friendly sales associate behind the counter asked me if I wanted a fudge sample. Off to a great start.

Of course I accepted, sampling the turtle, butter pecan and the number one seller, chocolate. All were exemplary but I purchased a quarter slice of the chocolate to take home with me. Kilwin’s Mackinac Island fudge is made using the original recipes of Don and Katy Kilwin and the smooth, creamy taste is definitely something to be savored. I nibbled on my block of fudge as I browsed the small shop and watched the employees as they prepared the sweet treats. The fresh caramel corn and caramel, nut covered apples were especially tempting but I resisted!

Kilwins would be a great gift idea for any candy lover in the family and you can purchase creative gift baskets or even create your own with the wide variety of mouthwatering options this franchise offers. So stop by next time you’re at the Branson Landing and pick up the perfect gift for yourself or that family member or friend with the biggest sweet tooth.

Kilwins Branson is open Sunday-Thursday 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 9 a.m.- 11 p.m. For more information, visit www.kilwins.com or the Kilwins Branson Facebook page.
