Silver Dollar City Foundation Tops $1 Million for Area Kids

Silver Dollar CityAccording to a press release from the Silver Dollar City Foundation, the organization’s donations topped $1 million this year towards Care For Kids with a $143,000 donation to area school representatives this week bringing the total funds donated to $1,013,000 since the program first started in 2006.

The Care For Kids program was launched by the Silver Dollar City Foundation to provide immediate help to children in need or in crisis. The press release states Foundation President John Baltes said Care For Kids served 5,200 kids in the two countries during the past school year, an increase of 800 kids or 52 percent over the previous year.

Care For Kids also supports mentoring programs for kids, working with 78 churches to provide over 250 volunteers mentoring 800 kids in the past year, according to the press release.
