I was driving to Branson this week when I realized the leaves are already beginning to turn to their fall colors. Looking out over the Ozark hills while traveling south on Hwy. 65 makes for quite the scenic drive and it got me thinking about all the fun different ways you could view the beautiful fall foliage of the Branson area.
The deep reds, oranges and yellows of autumn only dot the hillside for a brief time spanning the few weeks of mid-September to November, so if you’re in the area during that time you’ll want to make sure you take in as much of it as you can. And there are a ton of great ways to do so!
On horseback. What better way to experience the fall foliage than on horseback. Get saddled up and head out on an adventure down scenic trails, over wooded hills and through rolling pastures.Dogwood Canyon offers a variety of rides for rides of all experience levels and ages.
Driving tours. The obvious way to see the beautiful sights of autumn trees is to take a scenic drive through the Ozarks. Routes like Ozark Mountain High Road make for some spectacular views of the colorful hillsides. Drive along the shores of Table Rock Lake, in the Kimberling City area or the beautiful Indian Point.
Showboat Branson Belle. The Showboat Branson Belle is not only a great place to find incredible entertainment paired with luxurious dining, but before you head to the show, you’ll be able to gaze out over the trees that surround the lake with an impressive colorful border.
Ride the Ducks. Ride the Ducks through the streets of Branson and take in all the beautiful sights of fall that come with it. You’ll get to see all the beautiful foliage alongside the many theaters and attractions around every corner and up every hill.
Hike, walk or bike the trails. With so many trail systems in the Ozarks area, you’ll have a variety to choose from! Try Murder Rock Trail if you’re interested in a little history to accompany your tour of the changing leaves on foot.
Zipline. Whether it’s with the Branson Zipline, at Inspiration Tower’s Vigilante Extreme Ziprider or Parakeet Pete’s Waterfront Zipline at the Branson Landing, ziplining is a fantastic way to get the bird’s eye view of the Ozark Mountains. You’ll soar above above all the trees for a perfect, unobstructed view of the landscape.
Helicopter Tours. If you’re really into the whole bird’s eye view thing, Chopper Charters Branson Helicopter Tours make for a great day trip above the city with some pretty incredible sights. You’ll see Branson in a whole new way.
Taking a fall foliage tour is a great way to spend a cool, fall day in Branson and with so many ways to do so, you’re bound to have a blast doing whatever you choose.
