Apple Butter Makin’ Days is one of Missouri’s most popular festivals and it’s back this year for three days of delicious fun.
The Mt. Vernon Courthouse Square will host the festival this year from October 10-12 where visitors will enjoy fun contests, special activities for kids, a delicious variety of foods, live entertainment and of course, apple butter makin’ on the courthouse lawn.
Sweet smells will fill the air as large copper kettles cook a bubbling savory mixture of peeled apples, water, sugar and spices over an open fire to create the yummy apple butter that everyone loves.
Browse the festival for unique craft vendors, taste snacks from local restaurants, attend the Apple Butter Queen crowning or the baby show and maybe even enter one of these unique contests:
- Pet parade
- Bubble gum blowing contest
- Apple pie eating contest
- Apple biting contest
- Nail driving contest
