The Branson-Tri Lakes News reported on a new food truck that just opened shop in Hollister, MO, just minutes from Branson.
The mobile restaurant, Crave Food Truck, serves lunch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. daily in the new Home Décor parking lot across from Country Mart on the hill at 200 Southtowne Blvd., Hollister.
Food trucks have been around since the beef market in Texas expanded after the American Civil War when some cattlemen used to be on the road for months at a time with no access to the railroads. Therefore, the chuckwagon was born. A chuckwagon would be filled with eating utensils and cooking supplies so the cattlemen could have a filling, proper meal even while traveling.
While most Branson visitors don’t have to worry about not having access to a proper meal, the food truck phenomenon has swept the country and the idea of eating from a mobile restaurant has become a novel one, drawing visitors and residents to taste the delicious foods prepared from these kitchens on wheels.
Crave Food Truck is owned and operated by April Mashburn who promises handcrafted street food prepared using fresh ingredients when possible. Mashburn tweeted in August that the delicious looking steak tacos were the top seller.
