Food Friday: Black Oak Grill

Black Oak GrillThe Branson Landing is a great place to shop but it’s also a fantastic place to eat. The Black Oak Grill rests on the shore of Lake Taneycomo at the north end of The Landing near Belk department store and it’s definitely a restaurant you want to try at least once.

Black Oak Grill has two locations — one in Branson and the other in Omaha, Nebraska. The website explains the meaning behind the restaurants name and roots, saying “the black oak tree has taken root throughout much of America, creating a common but distinctive and richly colored backdrop to our country. Black Oak Grill finds its roots in a broad range of urban grills, neighborhood cafes, boulevard bistros and corner taverns.” With that being said, Black Oak Grill is a friendly atmosphere for families, couples and groups alike.

The modern interior of Black Oak Grill is relaxing with dim lights and walls relatively clear of cluttered décor. I went for dinner at 6 p.m. on a Monday so there were only a few others there but I’m assuming it’s a whole different place on the weekends.

The bar faces the dining room with a huge wall of windows as its backdrop, so if you choose to sit there you’ll have a nice view of crowds walking the Landing and you’ll be able see a little bit of the lake too. The bar serves a variety of handcrafted cocktails, premium beers and pleasant-tasting wines and the servers seemed to be very knowledgeable about the menu items.

My server was very friendly and she highly recommended the Rosemary Chicken, so even though the menu was filled with absolutely delicious-looking foods I decided to take her suggestion.

My meal came out of the kitchen piping hot and less than ten minutes later. The grilled chicken breast was seasoned with rosemary and was perfectly moist and flavorful. No dry chicken here! It came served with chunky garlic smashed potatoes, fresh zucchini and a warm baked roll with sweet, cinnamon butter on the side. The combination of mouthwatering flavors was absolutely perfect and even the presentation of food on my plate was neat and appetizing.

My server anticipated my needs throughout the entire meal so I never had to ask for a refill, a to-go box or a correction to my order and she made my dining experience even more enjoyable.

I’d like to revisit this restaurant on the weekend because I feel like it would be a fun crowd and the perfect way to end a day of shopping at the Branson Landing.

Definitely stop by Black Oak Grill for your next family outing, date night or girls night out.

Hours are Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
