This weekend is absolutely jam packed with fun things to do, so I’m just going to write one blog post including them all for your convenience. If you’re in the Branson area this weekend, I hope you can find a way to participate in one of these exciting events because I can’t think of a better way to spend one of your last weekends of freedom before school picks up again!
Super Summer Cruise
Check out the Show’n’Shine at The Shepherd of the Hills Historic Homestead, featuring more than 500 cars and trucks on display. Awards will be given out for each class on Saturday afternoon followed by the Super Summer Midnight Cruise at 12 o’clock on the dot. Free Movie Night in the Park
Relax and catch a free movie at Chad A. Fuqua Memorial Park, next to City Hall in Hollister, MO. The City of Hollister Parks and Recreation Department and Hollister’s Ozark’s Family YMCA have teamed up to provide a free showing of “Grease” in the park at 8:30 p.m. Free popcorn and a soda or water for just one dollar will be available as well as inflatables provided by the YMCA for the kids. Enjoy live music from “Think Floyd,” “The Nobs,” “Dirtfoot” and “The Stone Sugar Shakedown” for some bluegrassy tunes unique to the Ozarks. Other activities include an uplifting Saturday morning yoga session at 10 a.m. and Fundamentals of Poi (the art of meditation and circles) and hula hooping contests on Friday and Saturday. The winner(s) will get to hoop during Saturday night’s Think Floyd concert! Camping and canoe rentals will be available if you want to stay the whole weekend. Starting this Friday, you can explore the depths of the dark oceans on the giant screen at Branson’s IMAX Entertainment Complex. One of four films will play every hour, on the hour, so you can choose from “Great White Shark,” “Under the Sea,” “Whales,” or “Island of the Sharks.” You can even purchase an Unlimited Madness Pass and see all four films anytime and as many times as you want throughout the entire marathon. Watching these films on the six story tall, 83-foot wide screen is sure to transport you straight into the thrilling, underwater adventures. The IMAX Entertainment Complex is located at 3562 Shepherd of the Hills Expwy., Branson, just a third of a mile from the RFD-TV Theatre.
