When you spend a day at Dogwood Canyon Nature Park, the options are endless as to the things you and your family can do. Open daily from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., this outdoor paradise is the perfect place to hike, go horseback riding, ride a Segway or just relax and enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature.
With so many options, it’s hard to pick and choose how to spend your time, so I’m going to make sure you know exactly what is available to you when you so you can make the most of your visit to Dogwood Canyon Nature Park.
Fishing. Dogwood Canyon offers a variety of fishing activities for both the experienced and non-experienced fisherman. Featuring tackle and rental rods, self guided catch and release, self guided catch and keep, guided trout fishing, a fly casting clinic and a 2-day fly fishing school, all you really have to do is show up and be ready for a good time.
Horseback riding. Explore ridges and hollows on horseback as your experienced trail guide leads you through the beautiful Ozark Mountains. Choose from a one or two hour ride, a special cattle drive experience or the Little Indian Advanced Trail Ride and don’t forget to make your reservations ahead of time, especially if you have a large group.
Hiking/Biking. Walk or bike the paved, 6.5 mile trail and enjoy the scenic views of the cascading waterfalls, limestone bluffs and stone bridges. Stroller rentals and dog passes are available, if you’d like to bring your dog along for the walk. Just make sure you have it on a leash.
Archery. Try your hand at wielding a bow and arrow and you just might surprise yourself with your own accuracy and strength. You’ll have an introduction, time to practice and then you’ll compete in a championship on a 3D course with five different realistic-looking animals, all of which will be worth points. First, second and third place will be crowned and even if you don’t place, you’ll receive a free T-shirt.
Tram tours. Cruise around in one of these open-air trams to sites like the Indian Burial Cave and Great Spirit Rock Shelter as your tour guide narrates your ride with detailed explanations of everything you see.
