Stop into the Copper Coin and Hear the Amazing Story that Goes With It

The Copper CoinThe Copper Coin may look like any other specialty jewelry and home décor shop from the outside, but it couldn’t be any more different. Owner, Susan Abar and her husband have a purpose for each piece of jewelry and décor to be decorated with a single penny and they share their story with everyone who enters the store.

Located at 109 N. Commercial St. in Historic Downtown Branson, The Copper Coin features a large selection of décor including some locally handmade items crafted by Branson residents. Each piece of décor and jewelry in the shop is embellished with a single penny, adding a unique flair that has an underlying meaning for Susan. The Copper Coin

A few years ago, after being laid off from her job and enduring a bilateral mastectomy, doctors told Susan they had discovered a mass on her pancreas. With a mother and grandfather who had both died of the disease years earlier, she also prepared herself to die.The Copper Coin

Over the next few weeks she tried to continue living life as though everything was normal and during that time, she found two pennies that she stuck in her shoe, as the old wives tale says to do for luck. Little did she know, the message “In God We Trust” engraved on those pennies would have much more significance in her life than just luck. The Copper Coin

A short time later, she decided to get a third medical opinion and doctors told her their tests could not detect any mass. It had completely vanished and Susan was going to live.

Today, alive and in good health, Susan uses her Branson specialty shop to share her miracle story with the reminder of a single penny.

Stop in to grab a copy of her self-written book “Against All Odds,” browse her selection of uniquely beautiful jewelry and home décor or ask her to share more about her story.

The Copper Coin is open Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and it’s right across the street from the Walgreens on the corner of Commercial and Main St. in downtown Branson.

While you’re downtown, stop in Dick’s 5 & 10 or Patricia’s Victorian House, right around the corner from The Copper Coin.

      1. Thank you for reading Susan! I read your book within that same week you gave it to me and it was incredible. Couldn’t put it down. Thanks for sharing your powerful story!

  1. I was privileged to meet Susan in her shop at the Outlet Mall a few years back, and she shared her story; a beautiful lady. I have shared her book with many of my friends; a very touching story.

    1. What a precious day it was to see you Marilyn! It has been almost four years since The Copper Coin first opened at Tanger! What a joy it was to see you and remember those days. Blessings to you and your family!

For those who are coming to Branson during the Holidays, be sure and stop by this season at The Copper Coin. we have added an entire new line of custom-crafted stainless steel jewelry I call Twice Blessed!

It is amazingly beautiful and artsy with copper and brass accents. It’s a perfect gift for anyone who is sensitive to alloys found in fashion jewelry. And along with the book, Against All Odds: Two Pennies, A Rainbow and A Woman Called Mercy, Twice Blessed is a very good choice for anyone dealing with chemotherapy.

  4. Susan so enjoyed your shoppe and hearing your amazing life testimony. We parked in front of your shoppe last weekend so that we could take our grandson to the Dicks 5 & 10. We did our shopping around Branson and got in our car to leave. I told my husband wait I need to go in “the Penny Store”… Which is not like me at all …not a shopper!! We went in and heard your amazing story…you deeply touched our lives and are so pleased we stopped in! God bless you for sharing your testimony! We will be back on our next trip to Branson.

    1. Hi Amanda,

When you get back to Branson, Ron and I hope you will come by. I have been working on jewelry this winter and have some new styles I hope everyone will love. Last night I custom-crafted some angel nightlights with the penny. They turned out beautifully.

As for the weather, we had about 4 inches last night. Branson is covered and the hills are beautiful.

      Lots of love
      Susan
