David Letterman Show and other Branson attractions

Everyone knows about The Late Show with David Letterman, and perhaps you’ve seen the Stupid Human Stupid Pet Tricks segment of the show, but did you know that the show holds auditions for the segment in Branson, Missouri? This Saturday, June 16th, The Late Show with David Letterman is holding a casting call at Branson Landing.

If you’re a fan of the show, you may remember the segment where a man from Branson played a song on a bicycle pump. That Branson local, Matt Gumm, was one of the many people to display their stupid trick or their stupid pet trick at last year’s casting call. “I am so grateful to the Branson Chamber/CVB for having David Letterman’s crew out to Branson year after year for these auditions,” said Matt Gumm of the casting event, “I would encourage everyone to come out and audition at Branson Landing. You never know! There is so much talent in Branson and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to represent our town in New York City!”

If your strange trick or strange pet trick is selected for the show, you will be awarded an all-expense-paid trip to New York City, payment for your appearance and a chance to perform for David Letterman’s many fans from the famous Ed Sullivan Theatre’s stage. Arrive at the casting call area in front of Branson Landing Fountains between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Saturday, June 16th for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You’ll find casting call rules and a map to the area here: http://ozarksfirst.com/letterman

If you’re camera shy or don’t have any exceptionally strange tricks up your sleeve, there are still several reasons to visit Branson. If you’d like to see what Matt Gumm has been up to recently, check out Clay Cooper’s Country Music Express, where Gumm is the resident comedian. You’ll hear his hilarious take on famous folks in the music business along with some very insightful, if comedic, commentary. The entire show is family-friendly and highly entertaining with vocal, instrumental and dancing talents. You’ll see Johnny Lonestar, New York’s number one cowboy, trick roper and gunslinger, the Buckets N Boards rhythmic band, and a group of nine experienced dancers.

There are also several lodging options near the Clay Cooper Theatre, including the Best Western Center Pointe Inn, which is within walking distance of the theatre. There, you’ll be privy to an indoor and outdoor pool, a hot tub, complimentary continental breakfast and free Wi-Fi.
