Shoot for the hoops! The College of the Ozarks campus in Point Lookout, Missouri, located just minutes from Branson, will host the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship from March 11th to March 17th. Come experience a bit of “March Madness” as you watch 32 teams compete to be crowned national champions in this one week tournament. The NAIA Men’s Division II Basketball National Championship Tournament has been held since 1992, and unlike the NCAA Tournament which spans multiple weekends, the NAIA Tournament is played entirely in the same week where 32 teams are whittled down to one champion.

Although the NAIA Division II Tournament features smaller colleges, do not assume that the absence of schools like Duke, UCLA, and Kansas means that these players are short on talent. Some dazzling, talented, and colorful NBA players came out of the NAIA Division including Dennis Rodman, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Slick Watts, Lloyd “World B” Free, M.L. Carr, Nate Archibald, and Elgin Baylor. So while you are in Branson, make a trip over to the College of the Ozarks campus to watch some action-packed college hoops as NAIA Division II teams battle it out for a national championship.

  1. That is for certain!!! There is limitless talent to be seen in places other than Division 1. Being that this is taking place in Missouri I’ll mention Qyntel Woods from Moberly… went on to Northeast Miss C.C. before breaking into the league for a few years… I think he plays across seas now… Bologna maybe? But back to my point… go support these kids!!!

    1. You seem to know a whole lot about basket ball Andy. Although I havent been to any of the games before I would like to check them out.

  2. College basketball tournaments are awesome. There is always bound to be a game that is decided at the buzzer. I echo the sentiment that some of these NAIA players are really good. That list of NBA players who came out of NAIA ball is pretty impressive. You could put together a pretty good all star team there!

  3. This sounds like a pretty exciting time for basketball fans. I can’t say that I’ll be there, but I’m sure it would be a lot of fun. I had no idea those mentioned in the article came from a smaller division. Very impressive!

  4. My mom and my youngest brother would be down for this. They’re huge basketball fans and I guess it’s only natural for my little bro to be…despite not being so little. He’s 6’7″ and plays varsity for his high school. I’m sure he’d love to go to a tournament like this to see how it goes in different regions.

  5. I didn’t know about this tournament being hosted at College of the Ozarks this year. I definitely have to go. I love college basketball–even if it isn’t the Division I schools.

  6. I like basketball.. I use to play (until I got lazy =]]) I’d like to go watch some college ball.. Much more intense than high school.

  7. As a former basketball player myself. And A Missouri Valley Recruit. I can tell you first hand that these guys are no joke! Awesome talent in this area

  8. This sounds cool to be honest I don’t know much about basketball but im sure my brothers would find it alot of fun.
